(N64) - Play Online DESCRIPCION: Nintendo's third game for the Nintendo 64, following Super Mario 64 and Pilotwings 64, has nailed a racing genre so underrepresented that it's hard to play a newer jet ski/water ski racing game and not feel like something is missing. That "something" is the way the jet skis are controlled, the way the ever-changing waves and ocean currents affect handling, and of course, how each level changes with the tides. Dynamic weather and water conditions range from the subtle, like fog obscuring your vision and eventually burning off, to the dramatic, where entire parts of a course are altered. Unlike the aforementioned Mario 64 and Pilotwings, Wave Race 64 doesn't make it easy for players to battle the elements. But the steep difficulty curve eventually gives way to becoming one with the controls and performing the most impressive stunts and even diving headfirst into the waves to avoid obstacles.
